1. Surface Prep
This is an important often overlooked step to ensure that lips are exfoliated, hydrated, and clean. Surface prep minimizes peeling and flaky lips ensuring the perfect canvas. One of my best kept savvy beauty secrets for this step is the Fabulips™ 'Pout'-o-matic Spa Powered Lip-Perfecting System C/o Bliss. This lip tool starter kit includes a sugar lip scrub, which after proper application results in lips feeling pout perfect.Savvy Tip: For an even longer lasting statement lip apply your favorite lip primmer prior to liner. My sassy favorite Lip Insurance Lip Primer by Too faced.
For your lip liner choose a complementary colored lip liner from a color palette similar to that of your lipstick.
The liner acts as a base layer for the upcoming stick.
Lip Liner application savvy steps:
1. Start at the right peak of your cupid’s bow and draw a diagonal line downwards with the lip pencil.
2.Move the pencil to the left peak of your Cupid’s bow and trace a diagonal line downwards, completing the “X” affect.
3.Move the pencil back to the right peak of the Cupid’s bow and line the perimeter to the outer corner. Repeat on the other side.
4.Start at the outer corners of the lower lip and line the perimeter, meeting in the middle.
5. Fill in both lips entirely completing the base coat.
You can use your favorite sassy lipstick or liquid lipstick color.
Apply your lip color by placing the wand or lipstick at the right diagonal line of the “X” and direct it at that angle towards the outside corner, following the curve of your lip. Now repeat on the left side of your upper lip and complete by filling in the bottom lip.
Remember to blot and apply your lipstick in deliberate swipes.
4. "Redy", Set, Go!
If you are not using a matte lip color but still want to achieve a long lasting look. You can opt to set your lip color with a translucent powder. I prefer the Makeup Forever HD translucent setting powder. This powder has to be applied very lightly and sparingly. To apply place a tissue over your lips and use a small makeup brush to apply the translucent setting powder OVER the tissue.
(A large eye shadow brush works wonders)
Apply a final coat of lipstick and remember to blot!
Now your ready you've set your lips and you can pucker up!
